Making cookie dough is simple. Making a cookie dough truffle is easy too; all you have to do is toss a cookie dough ball in melted chocolate and you’ve got yourself a beautiful chocolatey morsel. Today I’m taking the cookie dough truffle up a step and making them spicy and salty to contrast with the sweetness. An extra kick of flavor makes everything taste better.
Get your ingredients, people! You most likely have all these lying around in your kitchen somewhere. You will need:

1/2 cup butter (one large stick, or two small sticks.)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cups flour
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips
1 tablespoon water
7 Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares
4 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons sea salt
Soften the butter over low heat. Cream the butter and brown sugar together.
Add in flour, salt, vanilla, and chocolate chips… and mix it up! Pour in water for a smoother consistency and KEEP ON MIXING!!!
Now you’re done with the basic dough. Grease two medium sized plates and roll the dough into small sized balls, about an inch in diameter. Put them into the fridge to harden for about twenty minutes.

While the dough is hardening, break the chocolate squares into smaller pieces and melt them in a double boiler. A double boiler is a bowl of the things you want to melt, preferably glass, over a pot of boiling water. It’s like a microwave but better.
Once the dough has hardened, toss each ball in the chocolate to completely coat them. Dust a generous amount of chili powder on one half of the batch and sea salt on the other. Pop them back in the fridge for a few more minutes.

And that’s it! Spicy salty cookie dough truffles!

This recipe looks phenomenal! I recently made cookie dough truffles, but I never thought to add salt or spice! Love the idea, and the pictures are great! xx
